The Terracotta Army - What is it?-
Life size comparison.
The Terracotta army consists of over 3,000 different statues and is over 2,200 years old that are made of clay. These statues took 40 years to make but they still didn't finish the army. There are statues of men, chariots and horses. Alot of the statues use to carry weapons but during some time they were robbed by people. All of the statues were all different and unique in some way, so no two were alike. The actual army was found in 1974 when three farmers were drilling holes to find water, when they found some ancient terracotta pottery shards. It did not take long until the news spread and by July that year a Chinese archaeological team started excavating the site. What these farmers discovered was the 2,200 year old remains of a life-size terracotta army where also Qin Shi Haungdi (first Chinese emperor 221-210 BCE) was buried. The terracotta army lies to the south-west of Beijing, Xi-An. The terracotta army is an amazing discovery from Ancient times most definitely.
